How to Get a Driving Licence - Category A1
You can drive motorcycles up to 125ccm and a power of 11 kW with an A1 license if you completed training at an ongoing driving school. You can also use trikes and other motor vehicles with three-drives.
You can get an A1 driver's license after the age of 16. You'll need to pass the theory test as well as the practical test.
What is my driving capability?
A category A1 license allows you to drive two- or three-wheeled motorbikes. These vehicles have an engine size up to 125cc and the maximum power output of 11kW. This license can also be used to operate tricycles with motors, as long as it has an output of 15 kW. This licence also permits you to drive mopeds with trailers.
If you wish to ride a more powerful motorcycle you will need the category AM license. This allows mopeds up to 130cc, with a maximum power output of 35 kW.
Drivers with an official category C license (which is obtained by passing the four-part CPC test) are able to drive large goods vehicles that have a maximum authorised mass of up to 3,500kg. This vehicle is heavier than the majority of vehicles and will require you to be able able to tow a lot.
Category C1 is less restrictive than category C in that you can tow a trailer up to 500kg behind a vehicle with this licence. This is a great way to gain experience driving larger vehicles prior to taking the full test in category C that is required to drive HGVs.
Anyone who has been driving less powerful categories A and A1 will notice that it is easier to pass a test for category A2, which allows the use of motorbikes with that can reach 35 kW. This is known as "grandfathering," and was developed to allow drivers to learn about smaller vehicles prior to attempting to drive more powerful ones. If you have two years of experience with category A1 motorcycles you can skip the theory and the practical test and instead take a skills evaluation. This test is conducted by a recognised training organization. Age restrictions

You can only get an A1 category driving licence as your first motorcycle license or if you already have an entire motorcycle licence from another category (category B A2, A2 or A).
Before you can be granted a license to drive, you must pass a theory test. You can prepare for the test in various ways, including by taking a driving class or by self-learning.
Once you're ready, you can take the theory test consisting of 50 multiple-choice tests. You must score at minimum 41 points to pass. If you are younger than 16, you must have an adult along with you on the test.

You must have a driver's licence of at minimum category B for at least two years before you can apply for a licence of the next class. For instance, you may only apply for category A1 if you have been driving a motorbike of category A2 or higher for at least two years.
Once you have your A1 driving licence, you can add a category to drive other types of vehicles like a tractor or an automobile. In the majority of cases, you do not have to take the practical or theory tests to add categories. However, it is essential to research the specifics of your specific country's laws and regulations for more information.
Theory test
The theory test is an essential component of getting your category A1 license. You can take it either prior to or after you've completed the compulsory basic training (CBT). To get your motorcycle license you must pass both sections of this test.

Before the 19th of January, 2013, the full category B licence was required to operate tricycles and mopeds. Drivers who had a full Category B licence before 19 January 2013 retain their category AM privileges to tricycles and mopeds as long as they did not receive a Category C license in full at the time of the date.
